Well, I played around with O'Reilly Maker, the image maker and I managed to get a book cover created. However, I was not able to move it to my blog page. I tried cut and paste. I tried browsing files. Nothing seemed to work. So, I displayed the book cover on my PC screen. I took a picture of it. I hooked the camera up to the PC. I displayed the image. I created a file on the desktop. I did the "drag and drop" routine to get the picture into the desktop file. And then I was able to browse the desktop files from the browse routine on the blogger page and thus there is a picture of the book cover I made with O'Reilly Maker.

Not so fast.
It is obvious I haven't quite got it all figured out, however some of the fog is lifting.
Step 1
What a project!!!
This 23 Things is like a jigsaw puzzle. All the pieces have been dumped on the table and I am attempting to sort them out. With the puzzle, you usually start by looking for pieces that have at least one straight side, that usually indicates an edge pieces. When you get all the edge pieces together you have a frame in which to work. There are no edge pieces in 23 Things. Next you might get pieces of a similar color together, as these are connected, a tree or a house might begin to take shape. The thing is with 23 Things, each piece is made up of several other pieces, like those 3-D jigsaw puzzles.
Long ago and far away there was an instructional tool known as programmed learning. You were given one piece of information and then a second piece and then shown how they relate. Then a third piece of information was added and the relationship to the previous two pieces was given. This was continued until a complete concept was formed. I think if I could have started with just making a blog and understanding all the aspects of the blog creating program before going on to another program that added a new feature to the blog, then I might have been more successful.

Yikes! Half way
I've been lagging a bit. It's been awhile since my last post, so I thought I'd better review. Picked up some new info. I've added a picture to my blog. It didn't go exactly where I wanted it to, but it's a start. I wanted to put a picture in the header, however that does not seem to be happening. Maybe later.

Saturday rain
I was hoping it would rain today so that I would not want to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and instead stay in and work on the 23 things. Well it's cloudy and breezy and pleasantly warm, however, I need to get some work done on the 23 things, so I'm doing it.

Just conversation
It seems to me that all these different ways of communicating; e-mail, blogging, text messaging, twittering, etc. are just different ways of having a conversation. As long as you get your message to the person for whom it is intended, what difference does it make.
Also, it appears that I can get a Podcast on an MP3 player. I thought Podcast were for IPods. And if a Blackberry can do everything from text messaging to viewing video files to receiving a Podcast, were does one go to figure all this out.
I may have to wait until I win the digital camera inorder to post pictures on this blog. I see there are photos all over the Internet, however I'm not exactly sure which ones are in the public domain.

Item 5
Well, I got to the photo part. I found Picasa and picked around. I tried to set up an account, but it seems that someone with my same e-mail address had already set up an account. I discovered it was me. I guess once you set up a Google Blogger account, then that account works for anything Google which appears to be everything. Do I sense domination here?

Carrying on
Long ago and far away, the Internet was known as the Information Super Highway. Well, last week was an early start to the TCCL 23 Things project and that highway was icy. There has been a lot of slipping and sliding and eventhough most all of the ice has melted, the way is still a bit uncertain.

Blog registration at TCCL
Well, step # 4 registration, set-up record at TCCL Staff Forums, more user names, more passwords, another online conversation program to figure out. Didn't follow directions the first time. Left name out of thread post title. Tried to edit. Edit seemed to work but program didn't change title in thread list. Title did get changed in linked post.
Now looking for photos and a place to share. More tomorrow.

From PLCMC to TCCL
Flickr was a kicker, all those great photos from those Clickers. Since starting 23 Things while iced-in using PLCMC's version it was good to discover that TCCL's 23s was quite similar. They both referenced Flickr.

Next day
The precipitating rain, sleet, ice and snow have moved on, leaving a significant accumulation. It is still cold, temperature still around freezing however the sky is clear and the sun is bright. Hoping for major melting today.
Going to checkout Flickr. It is suppose to be fun.
